Welcome to Village at the West End
An up-and-coming arts district with a unique personality
The Village at the West End is an up-and-coming arts district that is often confused for the blossoming entertainment hub of the West End. They may be alike in name, but they are wildly different in personality. This unique neighborhood is home to galleries, artist studios, and many small businesses intent on preserving the local flair that runs deep in the Village.
Greenville was a major hub for the textile industry in the 19th and 20th Centuries, and many self-sustaining neighborhoods were created around the mills. Village at the West End was one such neighborhood where mill workers could live, eat, worship, and work close to home. The textile industry moved on, and the Village was revitalized beginning in the early 21st Century. The goal was to make it visitor-friendly while providing a high-quality life for its residents.
Many of the houses that were built for the mill workers still stand in the arts district today. Some remain untouched, but many of them have been beautifully renovated. There has also been an influx of new constructions in the neighborhood, with both single-family homes and stunning lofts and condos being added to the housing options.
