Leadership Greer & Tomorrow’s Rainbow: Supporting Kids and Families Through Healing

In the Greater Greer community, local leaders are constantly looking for impactful ways to support those around them — especially some of our most vulnerable neighbors. One inspiring example of this is the recent collaboration between Leadership Greer and Tomorrow’s Rainbow, a nonprofit dedicated to helping children, teens, and families navigate the deep emotional challenges of grief and loss.

What is Leadership Greer?

Leadership Greer is a nine-month leadership development program run by the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce. Participants, local professionals committed to civic engagement and community leadership, come together to learn about key aspects of Greer and the surrounding area and to work collaboratively on projects that address community needs. Through monthly educational sessions and a class-wide service project, participants gain insights into local government, economic development, human services, education, and quality of life issues that shape our region.

Each class selects a community organization or need for its project, and this year the class chose to focus on supporting Tomorrow’s Rainbow. This decision reflects both the urgency of mental health and grief support in our community and the desire of local leaders to help organizations doing meaningful work.

Who is Tomorrow’s Rainbow?

Tomorrow’s Rainbow is a nonprofit organization that creates safe, supportive environments for children, teens, and families dealing with the loss of a loved one. The organization combines facilitated peer support groups with therapeutic activities, including equine-assisted psychotherapy, to help young people build resilience and healthy coping mechanisms on their grief journey.

Programs are provided free of charge and are designed to meet participants where they are, whether that’s a structured support group, therapeutic play with animals, or creative, expressive activities. Tomorrow’s Rainbow has expanded its services into Upstate South Carolina, helping local families find connection, understanding, and hope during difficult times.

The impact of this work is profound: children supported in their grief are better equipped to navigate emotional challenges, build supportive relationships, and move forward with confidence.
